Being silly together is a compatibility test
I know I’m starting to trust someone when I stop monitoring how I look and sound around them.
The early stages of dating can involve a surprising amount of presentation. Everyone wants to show their best side, and that is completely normal.
But I love the point where things get less polished. You make the terrible joke. They see your weird reaction to something. Neither of you is trying quite so hard to be impressive.
That kind of silliness tells me I feel safe enough to relax.
For me, comfort is not the opposite of attraction. It is one of the things that lets attraction become something deeper.
